Villa Tunjung was the perfect place for our last minute trip to Bali. We were looking for somewhere away from the crowded south whilst still being close enough to many of Northern Bali’s outdoor attractions.
The villa itself was fantastic and is ideal for guests that like to spend time outside. The huge outdoor terrace offers an idyllic view of the mountains and volcanoes of north-western Bali which were the perfect backdrop to the sunset each evening.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Zeit in eurem tollen Haus haben uns extrem wohl gefühlt . Agus, Yuni und Gede waren so nett und zuvorkommend, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder. Von Rowena, Agus und Gede haben uns super Tipps für Unternehmungen gegeben und wir haben super viel Erlebte in 8 Tagen. Wir hätten noch viel länger bleiben können und das Essen und der Service waren absolut perfekt. Vielen lieben Dank für alles, wir kommen sehr gerne wieder 🥰

Wij vonden het huis prachtig, de ligging was super met een heel mooi uitzicht, in de verte zie je zelfs een vulkaan liggen. We hebben veel aan het zwembad gelegen en hebben elke avond van een diner van Agus en zijn vrouw genoten. Hele lieve mensen die goed voor ons zorgden.

Onze host Augus en zijn vrouw Yuni hebben fantastisch voor ons gezorgd. Altijd een schone villa, altijd heerlijk ontbijt en diner. Meer dan we ooit zouden kunnen wensen! De omgeving is heerlijk rustig om even te kunnen ontsnappen aan het hectische Bali!

Absolutely stunning and clean villa! It was a tranquil paradise. Agus was so great and the chef was awesome to have for dinner. We also used their local spa services and had a team of ladies come to the house to provide services. We also had a local yoga instructor come out to teach a private yoga class in the villa garden. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Ruime villa met zwembad ver weg van alle drukte. Een heerlijke plek om tot rust te komen en te genieten van het heerlijke eten wat voor ons werd klaar gemaakt.
Mooie ruime slaapkamers, goed onderhouden en heerlijk koel dankzij de airco.
Het zwembad is lekker groot en biedt voor zowel groot als klein voldoende vermaak.
Absoluut een plek om naar terug te keren.

A magical spot, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists. Beautiful, well kept property which was ideal for our vow renewal ceremony. Pool was divine and i dont think many reviews have noted this, but the sunset over the pool and looking out to the “jungle” is spectacular! We will be back! Thanks Rowena, Ruud, Gede and Agus!

After two weeks working in East Java, we enjoyed our holiday at Ruud/Rowena’s Villa. We couldn’t wish for anything better. It was absolutely amazing…
Where we always find it hard to settle and relax, their villa and its wonderful surroundings made it happen. Endlessly glazing into the beautifully mountains, floating in the pool, reading book after book in the braguda, while Martha and Agus are serving us the best Indonesian (vegetarian) meals.
At last not least, both Rowena and Ruud have been incredible helpful and flexible. Perfect hosts!

We had a fantastic time at Villa Tunjung! The staff (a driver, a butler, a cook and a gardener) were great people that made our stay very enjoyable. Gede (the driver) went out of his way whenever we needed him to drive us anywhere and also gave us good tips on places to see. Agus and the cook both made delicious breakfast and dinner and also took care of the grocery shopping for us. We we’re quite impressed by the gardener who would climb up a plamtree in the yard whenever we asked him to, to get us a coconut. We are hoping that we will find the time to come back someday, as it was truely a wonderful experience.

Villa Tunjung really is an amazing place to stay. We were greeted at the airport by our amazing driver/guide Gede, who along with our butler and his wife (our chef) quite literally made our holiday! The villa is literally a beautiful place to escape to. Ruud and Rowena were wonderful hosts, only an instant message away whenever there was a question that needed answer. All in all we could not recommend Villa Tunjung enough, the pool is amazing, the view is out of this world, the balcony (where we spent most of our time) is picturesque to be polite and of course the staff really are some of the friendliest most welcoming people we have ever met. We will DEFINITELY be back!!!

From the moment I discovered Villa Tunjung on AirBnB, I instinctively knew it was for us. Rowena’s responses to my initial inquiries were immediate and super helpful, and she even coordinated with me to block out the dates and time the booking transaction so that nobody could suddenly book any of the dates.
We stayed at the villa for 12 nights and could easily have stayed longer. The village of Rangdu, is utterly picturesque. We woke up every day looking out over the lush mountains and forest, listening to the bird song and relishing the sounds of locals going about their business, and quite frankly, we couldn’t believe our luck. The pool was a welcome relief, but as it’s located in the hills we also enjoyed a breeze and the temperatures were wonderful.
Agus is the host with the most! Gentle, kind and helpful, ensuring the place was spic and span every day. Juni cooked us delicious meals and catered for my children’s very conservative taste buds. Gede drove us wherever we wanted to go, with his wonderful smile and contagious laughter.
We barely encountered other tourists in the area. We rented a couple of motorbikes and thoroughly enjoyed riding around the area and walking straight out our front door through rice terraces and magical vistas.
Thank you thank you thank you Villa Tunjung for allowing us some time to relax as a family and also facilitating a true adventure with our kids….snorkling, dolphins, bike rides and bio-reefs! We’ll be back. Xxxx

Totally in love with this place! The location was beyond idyllic, extremely clean and comfortable in all aspects! Perfect for a dream holiday!
Gede, our host and driver was the best! From waiting for us at 2am at the airport, to taking us visit amazing places… nothing was too much to ask! He made us feel at home and incredibly welcomed.
Oh.. and the food!!!! 🥰🥰 Marta’s cooking skills are fantastic! Far superior to any meals we had at well known restaurants.

Wir waren 6 Nächte in der bezaubernden Villa Tunjung und wollten am letzten Tag gar nicht mehr weg!
Agus hat sich um alles gekümmert, so dass wir uns um nichts kümmern mussten. Alles war blitzsauber und blieb auch so dank seines täglichen Einsatzes. Auch spezielle Wünsche erfüllte Agus im Handumdrehen. ( Massagen / Abendessen zu verschiedenen Zeiten / Lebensmittel etc.)
Gede stand als Fahrer jederzeit mit Auto und guten Geschichten bzw. Antworten auf unsere Fragen zur Verfügung! Außerdem zeigte er uns nicht nur als Guide die Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Umgebung, sondern brachte uns auch in gute Warungs.
Das täglich frisch von der Köchin zubereitete Essen war stets lecker!

This was a great location for us because it allowed us to explore some remote areas of Bali. Wish we could have done more exploring and spent more time. The ourdoor bathroom on the master suite upstairs is very cool! Gede is your driver, very flexible and friendly, and at least if you are coming from the US Gede is a great value. We just paid what we thought was fair based on the initial stated airport pickup fee taking into consideration fuel costs and his time, something like US $30 for a half day and up to about US $50 for a full day, including all fuel and parking fees. He was available every day for us. Then Agus is a very responsive point of contact once on site. We also gave some tip to Agus and Marta. The reason I bring this up is because all of them were very nice and responsive, I was not sure what is appropriate and customary for tipping, and they were very appreciative. If we needed anything during our stay Agus was very responsive and helpful. I would recommend stopping to pick up some groceries on your drive to the place (for example if you want a good bread) because the local groceries at the place are very limited. Definitely take advantage of Gede as your driver. He will show you things, take you where you want to eat along the way, help you explore the island and navigate everything and communicate with the locals. We will return here when we can.

Words fall short in describing the beautiful haven of rest, tranquility and beauty that Rowena and Ruud have created at Villa Tunjung. The setting is picturesque, nestled in the splendor of Northern Bali. The home is even more lovely than the pictures and has everything one could need for a holiday of rest and rejuvenation. What makes this home unparalleled; however, is the staff. It began when Gede picked us up from the airport, full of joy and a wonderful conversationalist. Then upon arrival at the magnificent home, we were greeted by Agus, who is a truly delightful person and took such quiet care of us, and a delicious local meal prepared by Merta, who not only made wonderful food but always did so with a smile and a great warmth. We left the trip feeling like we gained dear friends in these three remarkable humans. What Rowena and Ruud have created here is something very, very special – a haven for weary souls where they can find peace and restoration. We have traveled extensively and been so fortunate to stay in many beautiful homes around the world but none have filled our hearts up like this one. So if that is what you long for, I can’t recommend this home strongly enough and when you do, please care for the staff as the treasures that they are. Thank you to Rowena and Ruud for the gift of this home!

Villa Tunjung is truly amazing. If you are looking for a very private and relaxing vacation far away from the busy and touristic area then this is the place to go! The villa is located in a very friendly village between beautiful rice fields where you can also go for nice morning runs and breathtaking hikes. Agus cooked our breakfast every morning exactly the way we wanted it and another cook made dinner for us every day. The food was very good and we preferred to eat at home rather than going to a restaurant. Agus bought all our groceries and helped us together with Gede, who drove us whenever we needed to go somewhere and showed us very nice places. They were available at any time with every question and request we had and they were always around the villa taking care of us. The whole vacation still was very private and we were not disturbed by the crew at any time. The house and pool gets cleaned every day and we were also able to do our laundry there. All in all we definitely can recommend villa tunjung and we will come back again. Thanks for having us!

Unser perfekter Urlaub!
Wir verbrachten 19 wunderschöne Tage in der Villa Tunjung. Vorerst einmal zu den Fakten: pünktliche Abholung durch den Fahrer vom Airport, sehr freundliche Begrüßung in der Villa durch den Housekeeper, alles sehr sauber und gepflegt, toller Pool, schöner Garten, gemütliche Liegen, große offene Räume, klimatisiertes Schlafzimmer, nach oben teilweise offenes Badezimmer, vollausgestattete Küche, riesige Terrasse zum Verweilen ….
Jetzt zu unserer persönlichen Wahrnehmung:
Täglich früh morgens und am Nachmittag verrichtete der Gärtner und Poolboy unauffällig seine Arbeit. Er kontrollierte den Pool und säuberte den Garten von heruntergefallenen Blüten und Blättern.
Der Housekeeper, Agus kam wie am Vortag ausgemacht gegen 8 Uhr um uns das Frühstück zuzubereiten und im Anschluss alle Räume zu reinigen. Dies geschah jedes Mal in einer sehr unaufdringlichen Form, so dass man schon genau hinsehen musste um seine Anwesenheit überhaupt zu bemerken. Stets waren saubere und trockene Handtücher für uns bereit und das Bett immer gemacht.
Agus besorgte auch den Einkauf für unser Abendessen, das von Yuli immer sensationell zubereitet wurde. Es gab, und das sagen wir weil es wirklich so war, nichts was wir nicht jederzeit gerne wieder gegessen hätten. Alle Mahlzeiten waren reine Gaumenfreuden. Danke Yuli 😊
Während wir unser Abendessen genießen durften, bereitete Agus „heimlich“ das Bett zum Schlafengehen vor.
Nach dem Abwasch verabschiedete sich Yuli immer sehr herzlich und hinterließ wieder eine topsaubere Küche. Agus fragte stets ob wir noch einen Wunsch hätten, wie unser Tag verlaufen war und ob wir etwas zu beanstanden hätten. Nachdem wir den Einkauf beglichen hatten, wünschten wir uns gegenseitig einen schönen Abend und einen angenehme Nachtruhe.
Agus kümmerte sich auch um von uns gewünschte Massagetermine in der Villa. Diese waren jedes Mal super entspannend und sehr günstig.
Mit dem Fahrer, Gede machten wir uns mehrmals in der Woche auf, die Insel und ihre Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erkunden. Gede war stets pünktlich und brachte uns immer an tolle Orte, die uns fasziniert haben.
Trotz des, für europäische Verhältnisse, recht chaotischen Verkehrs, fuhr er sehr umsichtig, so dass wir uns nie unwohl fühlten und das einen oder andere Mal sogar eingeschlafen sind. Diese Fahrten und die diversen Eintritte sind selbstverständlich gesondert zu bezahlen, jedoch passt hier das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.
Zwei Tage werden für uns unvergesslich bleiben.
Zum einen durften wir an einer Hindu-Zeremonie teilhaben und wir bekamen tolle Einblicke in diese Religion. Unvergesslich wird für uns auch die Tempeleinweihung von Agus` Familientempel bleiben. An dieser Stelle möchten wir uns ganz herzlich bei Agus für diese Einladung und Bewirtung bedanken. Es war uns eine besondere Ehre diesen Zeremonien beiwohnen zu dürfen.
Zu allen Angestellten hat sich über die drei Wochen ein sehr freundschaftliches Verhältnis entwickelt und der Abschied von der Crew viel dementsprechend schwer.

Perfect stay for our honeymoon! from the welcome meal and flower necklaces to the goodbye honeymoon meal and flowers on the bed, every little thing was thought about and we can’t thank the team enough! Marta (chef) cooked us amazing meals, really recommend the soy garlic chicken. Agus was always there for us, we felt well looked after and Gede our driver was very knowledgeable of the area and even helped us to arrange a waterfall and blue lagoon trek (aling aling) which we loved! We mostly relaxed at the villa as it’s a perfect location to chill, watch the sunset and do yoga. The gardens are well looked after and we already miss this little slice of heaven on earth ❤️
